“I think that [through social media], people are universally experiencing what public figures have dealt with for a while. When I first started doing press when I was a young actor… I knew what to do on a set, or on a stage, but press is totally different. People would always be like, “Just be yourself,” and I’m like, “What fucking version?” Really! So much of my 20s was about investigating, like … who am I, really, because I’m being put on the spot here to represent a version of myself, and I’m not prepared to do that at all. I’m prepared to be one on one with people, but other than that, I don’t get it. And so I think that now, we’re all sort of keenly aware of how we come off — or we’re keenly aware that we’re choosing to come off a certain way.”
